
As part of Save the Congo campaign: “The G8 Time to Save the Congo“, our founder, Vava Tampa, together with Friends of the Congo‘s Spokesperson, Kambale Musavuli; President of the National Union of Student, Liam Burns; former UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Sir John Holmes; Leader of the Green Party of England and Wales, Nathalie Bennett; Filmmaker and director of Blood in the Mobile, Frank Poulsen; Chair, Society of Black Lawyers, D. Peter Herbert OBE; and five author on Congo, including the author of King Leopold’s Ghost: Adam Hochschild, author of Congo Masquerade, Prof. Trefon Théodore as well as the author of From Leopold to Kabila: A People’s History, Georges Nzongola-Ntalaja and 22 Members of Parliament and Peers – including the former Deputy Prime Minister, Lord Howe of Aberavon CH QC, have in a letter published by AllAfrica called upon the British Prime Minister who is chairing the G8 Summit this year in Lough Erne to build on recent progress and to put Congo’s culture of impunity – the glue that binds together the criminal network behind the killing, raping, looting and uprooting in Congo, at the heart of G8 policies on Africa.
